Three Cardinals finished with three hits each as the Webb City offense collected 16 hits from three different Pirate pitchers in an 11-5 home opening win.
Webb City scored three times in the first inning on two hits, two hit by pitches and a Pirate error. Andrew Young started the game reaching on an error and that was followed by a Sam Weller single. Shaun Hunt delivered a run scoring single to plate the first run. Drew Vonder Haar was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Christian Brock grounded out to score Weller and Hunt scored later in the inning on a wild pitch.
A double to the right field wall off the bat of Vonder Haar scored Hunt all the way from first for a single tally in the second.
Another three runs in the third scored after two outs. Weller drove in two runs with a single to right and he later scored on a Vonder Haar single. Weller drove in two more in the fourth.
Hunt drove in the final two runs in the sixth with a double to the right center wall.
Weller, Hunt and Vonder Haar, the number 2-3-4 batters, each finished with 3 hits. Weller drove in a total of four runs with Young scoring four times on the afternoon.
Lefty Luke Beverlin worked the first 3 2/3 to earn his first varsity win. He allowed two runs on five hits, striking out 7. Brett Korth finished the final 3 1/3 giving up only two hits and striking out 3 of his own.
Webb City is scheduled to entertain Springdale on Thursday with first pitch at 1:00 pm
