Webb City gets 14-2 district opening win

Held scoreless in the first inning, the Cardinals methodically filled up the scoreboard over the next three innings in dispatching the Grandview Bulldogs 14-2.  The opening round victory sends the Cardinals to the semi-finals for a meeting with the Belton Pirates.  

As the steady drizzle that began with the first pitch was ending, the Cardinals began to rain runs down on the Bulldogs.  Sending nine batters to the plate in the second, Webb City combined three hits with two Grandview errors to score three runs.  In the third inning, they plated five runs on six hits, and six runs went on the board in the fourth inning via seven more hits.

Andrew Young, Mason Williams and Hunter Shull each recorded three hits.  Six different Cardinals scored twice with Drew Vonder Haar driving in four runs.  Shadrach Salazar extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a double and a single.  Mason Williams has now reached base in nine consecutive plate appearances.  

Cohen Epler earned the complete game victory. striking out eight, he limited the Bulldogs to only two runs on three hits.
