Cardinals fall 7-4 to Lakes Community

The Cardinals dropped a 7-4 decision to Lakes Community, IL on Thursday in a game played at Missouri Southern.

Webb City built an early lead with a three run third inning.  Brody Eggleston led off the inning with a single and after being sacrificed to second, scampered on to third off a single from Hudson Byrd.  A wild pitch allowed Eggleston to score the first run.  Andrew Young was hit by a pitch and then back to back run scoring singles from Karsen Myers and Brock Renfro put the Cardinals up 3-0.

The lead was short lived as the Eagles countered with three of their own in the top of the fourth, a two out - two run single the big blow of the inning.

Brock Renfro drove in Andrew Young in the bottom of the frame to put the Cardinals back on top 4-3.

Lakes Community took advantage of three walks and a two out grand slam to pull ahead 7-4 in the decisive sixth inning.

Andrew Young and Brock Renfro both recorded two hits on the day to lead the offensive output.  Young scored twice with Renfro driving in two.

The Cardinals used five pitchers in the game.
