Webb City built a 10-point haltime lead and held on to nip Carthage 53-52 Tuesday night in a Central Ozarks Conference Large Division boys basketball.

Phoenix Johnson and Breckin Williams netted 17 and 16 points, respectively, to lead the Cardinals.

Webb City outscored the Tigers 18-9 in the second period for a 29-19 advantage at the intermission. The Cardinals led 41-30 after three periods before Carthage battled back with a 22-12 advantage in the final eight minutes. Webb City held a four-point lead late before Carthage hit a 3-pointer to cut the final deficit to one.
