
Maquel Harbin sank two free throws with 48 seconds left in overtime and the Cardinals held on for a 44-43 victory Tuesday night against Carl Junction in a nonconference game.
Harbin, who scored all nine of Webb City's points in the fourth quarter and overtime, led the Cardinals with 14 points. His 3-pointer gave Webb City a 42-39 lead with 1 minute, 45 seconds left in overtime.
Carl Junction pulled to within 42-41 on a layup and then took a 43-42 with 1 minute left in overtime. After Harbin's two free throws, Carl Junction had two opportunities to score the game-winning basket but missed both attempts.
The game was tied at 24 at halftime. Harbin began Webb City's 11-0 third-quarter run with a 3-pointer and ended the run with a driving layup that gave the Cardinals (3-2) a 35-26 lead.
Carl Junction (1-4) jumped out to an 11-6 lead in the first quarter, but the Cardinals retook the lead 21-18 — their first lead since the score was 2-0 — on Trey Gibson's steal, layup and free throw with 3:29 left in the half. Gibson scored 10 points, and Tate Smith, Kaden Roy and Zach Davidson each scored six points.
