Seniors Eli Pace and Holton Keith combined to score 25 of the first 26 points, finishing with 31 and 26, respectively, as the Cardinals won their home opener over Heritage 70-48.
Leading 21-15 at the end of the first quarter, the Cardinals used a 9-0 start in the second quarter to push the lead to 15 points where it stayed for the rest of the night.
Pace connected on four long range shots but it was his slicing and finishing high off the glass over the War Eagles 6' 6" big man that brought the home crowd to its feet. His 31 point night was his career high and would be the third best output for a Cardinal in the dome. Keith's quickness led to several layup opportunities in his 12 of 20 shooting from the field in his 26 point night.
Trae Turner added nine points and grabbed five rebounds. Slade Hurd and Keith also snared five rebounds. The defense sped up the War Eagles and forced them into 25 turn overs.
The Cardinals next outing will be at the 12 Courts of Christmas in Kansas City where they will face Odessa in a December 28th contest.
