Eli Pace and Holton Keith combined for 53 points, only two less than the entire Joplin team, in leading Webb City past the Eagles in the regular season finale inside the Dome.
With them combining for 30 at the half, Webb City owned a 38-24 lead. Slade Hurd with two long range shots in the first quarter and a Trae Turner dunk late in the second was remaining points in the half.
Joplin was able to get back within six points on one occasion in the second half as the Cardinals maintained a mostly double digit lead.
Pace finished with 28 points on the evening while handing out five assists and recording six steals. Keith recorded a double-double as he collected 11 rebounds to go along with his 25 points. Hurd made another triple in the second half on his way to a nine point total.
Although out rebounded by the Eagles, Webb City defensively forced them into 26 turn overs on the night.
With the game decided, the student section began chanting "We want Will". They got their wish as Will McClintick checked in for the final minute of the game bringing them to their feet, enthusiastically cheering each of his two shot attempts.
Webb City will host the district tournament next Wednesday and will face Hillcrest in the first round with an 8:30 tip.
