Soccer wins season opener

The Cardinal soccer team opened the 2010 season with a 3-1 victory over the College Heights Cougars.  

The cougars jumped out to an early 1-0 lead before the Cardinals tied at the 23 minute mark with a goal from Kyle Handley.  Jace Cooke then scored his first goal of the game just before half-time and then added another near the end of the second half to complete the scoring.  Aaron Tappana, Brandon Shultz and Austin Sanders were credited with assists.  

Nate Vandergriff stopped 11 of the 12 shots he faced.  Webb City was able to create 20 shots on goal for the game.

The Cardinals host Carthage on Thursday.
