Soccer wins 8-1

The Webb City soccer team defeated the visiting Riverton Rams 8-1 on Thursday night.

The Cardinals opened the scoring as senior Kyle Handley found the net from 15 yards out in the 22nd minute and then three minutes later scored on corner kick as he curled the ball inside the far post.  After Riverton scored, Webb City answered with Adam Miller heading in the ball on a corner kick and went to halftime with a 3-1 lead.

The second half was all Webb City as Brandon Schultz scored twice and Austin Sanders, Adam Miller and Garrett Kolb each found the back of the net.

In goal, Nate Vandergriff was able to stop a penalty kick early in the second half.

Webb City will participate in the Joplin Tournament this weekend before hosting Branson next Tuesday.  This game will feature both the Cardinals and the Pirates sporting pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  A signed game ball will raffled after the game.
