
The Lady Cards rallied back from an early deficit to advance in district play with a 9-5 victory over the Neosho Wildcats.
After falling behind 4-0 at the end of three innings, the Cardinals used double play to get out of the top of the fourth inning and then scored six times to grab the lead.
With runners on the corners, Peyton Rogers caught a pop up behind the first base bag and then doubled off the runner, stepping on first to end the inning.
Emily Harris started the fourth with an infield single, advancing to third as Quincie Capron was safe on a throwing error attempting to bunt. Ashley Allgood singled to right to score Harris with the Cardinals first run. Ashley Alexander moved up both runners with a successful sacrific bunt and Kaylee Cristy walked to load the bases. Bri Nichols singled to score Allgood with the second run. Rogers reached to score the third run and then with two outs Mareika Turpen doubled to right center, clearing the bases and staking the Cardinals to a 6-4 lead.
Ali VanZant opened the fifth with a infield single, advancing to second on a Wildcat throwing error. Allgood followed with a single, putting runners on the corner. One out later, Cristy drove in VanZant with a looping single just behind third base. Rogers singled later in the inning to plate Cristy. Bri Nichols who had reached on a fielders choice, scored the final run on a wild pitch.
Harris, Allgood and VanZant had two hits on the day, Turpen drove in three runs in the game. Cristy earned the pitching victory, pithcing the last 5 innings.
Webb City will face Joplin tomorrow at 6:00 in the District semi-finals.
