
The Lady Cardinals used a three run first inning, a strong defense and the pitching of Quincie Capron to beat Grove, OK 4-2 on Monday afternoon.
Renae Gillmore led off the game with a sharp single off the shins of the pitcher and scored the first run on three wild pitches as Ali VanZant drew a walk. VanZant then stole second while Stacy Tyndall was hit by a pitch. Kaia Storm bunted on the next pitch and a throwing error allowed Van Zant to score. The third run of the inning scored after Haidyn Berry flew out to center, the Ridgerunners allowed Tyndall to score when the catcher strayed to far away from home on the throw back to the infield.
Darcy Darnell drove in the fourth run with a bases loaded infield single in the third inning scoring Karson Culver.
Quncie Capron only allowed six hits on the day, strking out one to earn the victory. She benefited from two double plays from the Cardinal defense.
The Lady Cardinals (11-3) will face Carl Juncion in their home opener on Tuesday
