
After 14 games on the road, Webb City used only three innnings to win their home opener on Tuesday afternoon. The Cardinals pounded out 15 hits, including five doubles, to remain perfect in conference play.
Renae Gillmore, a perfect 4-4 on the day, led off the first with a single, moving to second on a Ali VanZant sac bunt. A wild pitch moved her to third as Kaia Storm drew a two out walk. Back to back doubles from Karson Culver and Haidyn Berry put the Cardinals up 3-0 after the first inning.
The offense scored seven more runs in the second, on seven hits and one Bulldog error. Darcy Darnell and Gillmore had two hits each in the inning. Five more runs in the third inning brought the game to an early end.
Gillmore finished with four hits, drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Karson Culver had two hits, both doubles, driving in three runs. Berry also picked up three hits, including a double, driving in three.
Berry earned the pitching victory, limiting the Bulldogs to only two hits, striking out three and walking two.
The Cardinals travel to Monett on Wednesday before returning home again on Thursday.
