Ashley Cole sets new diving record

Monett won the final event and slipped past Webb City 89-86 Tuesday night in a prep swimming dual match at Buck Miner Pool.

Webb City's Ashley Cole provided the meet's individual highlight. While she was the only entry in the one-meter diving, her score of 437.65 points for 11 dives was an automatic state qualifying mark and broke both the pool and school records. She becomes the third automatic entry for the Cardinals at state, joining Mary Bean and the 400-relay team.

Mary Bean won the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly on Tuesday, and Macy Bean took the 200 individual medley. The Cardinals also received first places from Anna Swearengen in the 100 freestyle and the 200 free relay team of Paige Williams, Ashley Philpot, Jalen Ansley and Mary Bean.

The Cubs' Sara Drewianka, Faith Drewianka, Carly Jenkins and Kelli Sangston combined to win the 400-yard freestyle relay in 4 minutes, 7.06 seconds, finishing a little more than four seconds ahead of the runner-up Cardinals.
