Lady Cardinals drop a pair in Saturday home quad

After an electrical issue delayed the start and forced a move to the junior high gymnasium, the Lady Cardinals never got the spark they needed as they dropped a pair of games on Saturday.

Facing Bentonville in the first match of the day, they fell behind losing the first two sets 25-15, -17.  Webb City battled back taking the next sets 25-19, -23.  In the in final set, Bentonville prevailed at 15-10, winning the  two hour and three minute match 3-2.

Jaeli Rutgledge powered the first match offensively, recording 16 kills and 35 assists.  Kirra Long,  with double digit kills, led three players with 10 plus digs.  She was credited with 15, Avery Gardner with 12 and Mia Lenker had 11. 

Playing in the final match of the afternoon, the Lady Cardinals grabbed the first set 25-22.  Grain Valley then swept the next three 25-18, -19, -22.  

Rutlegde finished with 16 kills in the match.   Four players tallied double digit digs, Long (15), Gardner (13), Savannah Crane (12) and Lenker (11).

Other matches found Bentonville and Grain Valley both sweeping Colgan 3-0.

The Lady Cardinals will be on the road at Carl Junction on Monday.
