Cards shut out Pirates 6-0

Scoring runs in five different innings, Webb City ran its conference record to 2-0 with a 6-0 blanking of Branson at Pirate Park.

Shaun Hunt drilled a home run to left give the Cardinals a quick 1-0 lead after one inning.

The ability to execute in the bunt game resulted in two runs in the second inning. Shadrach Salazar singled and Sam Weller walked to start the inning.  Hunter Shull put down a sacrifice bunt to move both runners up.  Mason Williams lifted a single to left to score both runs.

Shull came up big in the again in the third. Hunt and Salazar both walked and moved up on a balk.  With two outs, Shull singled up the middle scoring Hunt.  

Williams led off the fourth with another single.   Drew Vonder Haar scored courtesy runner Brody Eggleston with a single just inside the third base bag.

The same combination accounted for the final run.  Williams with his third hit of the day, gave way to Eggleston.  This time Vonder Haar doubled over the left fielders head to drive in the run.

Willams was 3-4 with two RBI's to lead the 11 hit attack.  Vonder Haar and Salazar each recorded two hits.  

Luke Beverlin allowed five hits in his 5+ innings of work to record the win.  He struck out six, only walking three.  Payton Marshall preserved the shut out, striking out two over his 1 2/3 innings.

This game marked the end of the nineteen year career for Adam Winkler as the voice of Cardinal Sports.  After calling over 1,500 games, he will be relocating to Texas to begin a new chapter in his radio career, as he goes behind the scenes to help produce content for a 10 station owner.
