Cardinals finish the week with a 7-1 win at Hillcrest

Webb City capped a perfect week with a 7-1 win at Hillcrest on Friday afternoon.

Drew Vonder Haar doubled in the first run in the top of the third, scoring Cohen Epler who had walked to open the frame.  Shaun Hunt followed with a single to center, driving in the second run of the inning.

Striking for a single tally in the fourth, catcher Mason Williams led off with a single to left.  Brody Eggleston, running for Williams, advanced to third as the Hillcrest pitcher threw a two base error on a errant pick-off.  Epler promptly scored him with a sac fly to center.

The Cardinals added an insurance run in the sixth with Andrew Young scoring on a Hillcrest balk.

Back to back doubles  from Hunter Shull and Mason Williams followed by a single from Epler plated two more in the seventh.

Hillcrest avoided the shut out with a single run in the bottom of the seventh.

Williams and Hunt each finished with two hits to lead the offense with Hunt and Epler each driving in two.  

Starter Brett Korth earned the win, striking out 9 and only allowing 1 hit in four innings of work.  Payton Marshall and Shull each pitched in relief.

Webb City will have finish the road trip with a Monday afternoon game at Ft. Scott before returning home on Tuesday to battle Carthage in a COC affair.
