WEBB CITY, Mo. -- The Webb City Cardinals returned home with a bang after a grueling five-game road stretch, facing off against the Carthage Tigers in an intense COC matchup.

The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the 2nd inning when Andrew Young delivered a powerful hit to right field, bringing in Hunter Shull and Sam Weller for the Cardinals, granting them a 2-0 lead. Moments later, Mason Williams sent another hit to left field, allowing Young to jog home, extending the Cardinals' lead to 3-0 by the end of the inning.

The momentum continued into the 3rd inning when a wild pitch by the Tigers gave Drew Vonder Haar the opportunity to further widen the Cardinals' lead to 4-0.

In the 4th inning, Shaun Hunt's deep hit down center field brought Young home once more, extending the Cardinals' lead to 5-0.

Although the Tigers managed to score their first and only run of the game in the 5th inning with a triple, the Cardinals swiftly took control in the bottom of the inning. A wild pitch allowed Christian Brock to score, followed by a line drive by Young to right field, bringing in Brett Korth and Shull. Hunt then hit another line drive, allowing Brody Eggleston to score. Vonder Haar sealed the deal with a grounder to left field, with Andrew Elwell sliding into home plate, resulting in a whopping 6 runs for the Cardinals in the 5th inning, concluding the game early.

Cardinals are back at home tomorrow to play Nixa at 6:30.
