Cardinals double up Ozark 4-2

The Cardinals pushed their record to 17-6 and 6-1 in COC play with a 4-2 win at Ozark on Wednesday.

Shadrach Salazar drove in two runs on two hits to lead the offensive output.  Mason Williams also picked up two hits on the day with Christian Brock scoring twice.

Webb City jumped out front in the first inning with two walks, two hits and a Tiger error to plate two runs.  Andrew Young and Shaun Hunt both walked with Young scoring the first run on a Drew Vonder Haar single.   An error allowed Brock to reach and load the bases.  Salazar picked up his first rbi with a ground ball single into left scoring Hunt.

Salazar put the Cardinal up 3-0 with his second rbi single in the third inning, driving in Brock.

After Ozark scratched a run in the bottom of the fourth, Webb City answered right back in the top of the fifth.  Brock, hit by a pitch, advanced to second on a single from Hunter Shull and continued home as Sam Weller singled into center.

Ozark scored a single tally in the bottom of the seventh before Brett Korth, pitching in relief, was able to secure the final out to earn the save.

Starter Landon Fletcher worked the first 4 2/3 allowing only one rule while scattering eight hits to pick up the win.

Webb City is scheduled to host two games on Saturday as Battle and Park Hill visit Barnes Field.
