Cardinals blast Parkview 15-0 in final home game

Using a 13 run uprising in the bottom of the first, the Cardinals made quick work of the Parkview Vikings in a 15-0 game shortened to three innings.

After starting pitcher Luke Beverlin set down the Vikings in order to open the game, the Cardinals sent 19 hitters to the plate in a bottom half of the inning that lasted 30 minutes.  The first seven batters reached base, six hits and walk, before the Vikings could record the first out.  Another three hits and five walks later the Cardinals were leading 13-0.

Drew Vonder Haar and Christian Brock were both 3-3 on the day leading the 13 hit onslaught.  Mason Williams, Shadrach Salazar and Brock all drove in three runs, with Shaun Hunt scoring three runs.

Luke Beverlin faced only 11 batters in the run-rule shortened game.  He only needed 48 pitches to complete the game, surrendering only two hits, striking out seven and only walking one.

Tonight was "Teacher Impact Night" for the Cardinals as each senior chose a teacher that had made a positive impact on them in their education careers.  Beyond imparting knowledge, teachers serve as mentors, role models, and sources of inspiration for our student athletes. A teacher's impact on a student's life extends beyond the classroom walls, shaping their character, aspirations, and future success.

The staff chosen tonight included Flave Darnell, Aaron Davied, Aaron Snow, Beverly Hayes, Caitlin Miller, Janel Smith, Darrell Hicks and Trey Derryberry.

The Cardinal will be on the road to Nevada for the final game of the 2024 regular season, before district play begins next Wednesday at Belton
