By Zach Dobbs

WEBB CITY, Mo. - The Webb City Lady Cardinals Soccer team had high hopes as they took on the Republic Tigers in a home game tonight, aiming to break a two-game losing streak.

From the get-go, the Tigers showed their dominance. Claire Redman swiftly scored the first goal of the night, putting Republic in the lead early on.

Despite the Cardinals' efforts, Republic continued to apply pressure. Molly Blades capitalized on an opportunity with no defenders around her, extending the Tigers' lead to 2-0.

As the game progressed into the second half, Republic maintained their momentum. Although Webb City's goalkeeper, Addison Brown, made a commendable save, Republic's Cadence Lugar found an opening and scored their fourth goal of the night.

Despite their determination, the Cardinals struggled to turn the tide. The final score stood at 4-0 in favor of Republic, marking Webb City's third consecutive loss. With this defeat, the Lady Cardinals' season record now stands at 5-5.

Webb City hits the road Tuesday to face Carthage.
